چکیده

While not unique to anti-microbial therapy, Clostridium difficile induced colitis is most frequently encountered as a complication of treatment with one or more of several antibiotics.1 4 The condition has been described in association with some members of the cephalosporin group of drugs.5 Only on a few occasions has cefotaxime been implicated in the past6.11 and, to date, no cases have been reported in the United Kingdom. We describe a case in which a patient receiving intramuscular cefotaxime developed a severe persistent diarrhoea which proved to be the result of a C. difficile infection.

Cytomegalovirus and Clostridium Difficile co-infection in severe ulcero-hemorrhagic colitis during induction chemotherapy for acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

Here we describe the first case of a biopsy-proven Cytomegalovirus ulcero-hemorrhagic colitis, associated with Clostridium Difficile co-infection, occurring during standard induction chemotherapy for common B cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. We discuss the case and focalize clinical management and diagnostic issues arising from it.

A case report of successful management of clostridium difficile colitis with antegrade Fidaxomicin through a mucous fistula obviating the need for subtotal colectomy

INTRODUCTION Clostridium difficile is the most common cause of healthcare-associated infections and can have devastating morbidity and mortality. Traditional treatment algorithms involve intravenous metronidazole and enteric metronidazole or vancomycin. Fidaxomicin (DificidR) targets "switch regions" within RNA polymerases and effectively kills clostridium difficile bacteria and is typically ad...

Refractory Clostridium difficile Infection Successfully Treated with Tigecycline, Rifaximin, and Vancomycin

The occurrence of Clostridium difficile colitis is on the rise and has become more difficult to manage with standard therapy. Thus, the need for alternative treatments is essential. Tigecycline is a glycylcycline antibiotic that has been shown to be effective against C. difficile through several published case reports and in in vitro studies. We present a case of C. difficile colitis that faile...
